Imagine your body as a marvellous interconnected system, all the parts working together. At the foundation, quite literally, sits your spine, and right at the base is your sacrum.
Think of it as the anchor for this intricate structure. Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a specialised approach that focuses on restoring the delicate balance between this anchor point and the base of your skull, called the occiput.
Now, why is this balance so important?
Well, a misalignment here can throw things off kilter, impacting how the rest of your body feels and functions. Let’s explore some of the ways SOT may help you find that natural harmony again:
Whether it’s a nagging ache in your back, a stiff neck, or those pesky headaches – pain has a way of taking centre stage.
SOT aims to address the underlying cause of your pain, offering potential relief.
Imagine reducing that pain without constant reliance on medication – that’s where SOT could really make a difference. It might even help with those stubborn, long-lasting aches that just won’t seem to quit.
SOT is a remarkably gentle technique. It often uses the natural weight of your body or a very light touch while guiding you into specific positions.
This gentle approach can encourage your body’s “relaxation response,” helping to lower stress levels, ease muscle tension, and promote improved sleep.
Think of it as giving your entire system a chance to unwind.
When things are aligned, your body simply works better.
SOT focuses on pinpointing the root cause of the problem rather than just chasing symptoms.
This means that in addition to easing specific aches, you might experience a whole host of benefits like improved posture, easier breathing, and even increased energy levels.
Think of it as optimising your body’s ability to heal.
One of the key ways SOT stands apart is its emphasis on gentle adjustments.
This means it can be a reassuring option if you find yourself a bit apprehensive about more forceful adjustments.
It may also offer benefits for specific conditions where a lighter touch is preferred.
Over my 22 years of practice the first 10yrs were using diversified adjusting and in the last 12yrs using SOT as my primary adjusting tool. I love its simplicity and effectiveness, it almost seems too easy.
When addressing the pelvis as our main foundational structure and recognising that the body will compensate to maintain our eye level then it is easy to understand how we end up with the symptomatology that people often present with.
If you’re longing to feel more like yourself, in a body that feels at ease, if you’re searching for a natural approach that focuses on the source of the problem – then SOT could be worth exploring.
At Ewell Chiropractic, we’re here to discuss if SOT could be a helpful part of your journey to greater health and wellbeing. It’s time to find your balance again!
